We are fortunate to live in a world where many avenues for healing exist. Sunheart Holistic was created to integrate Eastern and Western ideas on healing for people dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, health concerns, and relationship issues.

 

Originally from Kansas, Teresa spent 15 years in New York City studying Social Work and Psychoanalysis, working in clinics and the community, as well as in her own private practice. She studied meditation and mindfulness and became more well-versed in holistic practices as a result of her own struggles and understandings with Lyme disease diagnosis. Teresa's "healthquest" led her around the world as she explored various possibilities for healing. Ultimately Ayurvedic practices helped her to be free of Lyme disease symptoms and to heal in ways she hadn't imagined she needed.

 

Teresa began studying Ayurveda in 2015 in the Bahamas and India. She completed her Doctorate of Ayurveda {AyD} with the California College of Ayurveda in 2021 and offers the deeply healing practices Ayurveda holds in her private practice. Somatic Experiencing rounded out Teresa's training beginning in 2018, a beautiful weaving together of the resources available in the nervous system to allow body, mind, spirit and heart to heal.

The idea of Sunheart was inspired by a reflection of sun rays on a door in India in the shape of a heart {pictured on the home page in this site}. It represents how we feel when we are highly well-balanced, our nervous systems are very well-regulated and we can be our authentic selves, allowing who we are to ripple out into the world in life-giving ways.

There are three potential settings for meeting at the Sunheart office, weather and time of year depending, with two outdoor spaces and one indoor office. For those interested (and not allergic), 2 of 3 of these settings may be graced by our resident therapy cats.
